Corel, Synercard and Laminex Produce On-Line Digital Identification Cards

Ottawa, Canada— May 2, 2000— Corel Corporation (NASDAQ: CORL, TSE: COR) today announced its collaboration with Synercard Corporation and Laminex (D&K Laminex Inc.) to develop an on-line application to order and create digital identification cards.

Corel graphics and software are combined with Synercard's flagship product, Asure ID™ . Asure ID allows companies of any size to design, produce and manage a wide variety of professional card applications. The technology can be used to produce a wide range of security cards such as: employee identification cards, student cards and photo credit cards. Laminex is responsible for the production and manufacturing of the digital identification cards.

Asure ID removes the need to purchase, operate and maintain expensive card printing equipment. For the first time, they will be available on-line and delivered on an "on-demand" basis. In accordance with Corel's long-term Web strategy, the on-line application will be available this spring through a link at www.corelcity.com and at www.asureid.com.
